The Requirements
To be a good fit for the Production Supervisor opportunity, you should have:- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments (such as JIT suppliers) supporting high demand customers; automotive industry experience is a plus, and a Tier I background would be ideal.
- Experience supervising teams of at least 45.
- Proven strong leadership skills, including the ability to develop and mentor teams.
- Good technical understanding of processes and machinery.
- Computer proficiency, including intermediate skills in Excel and Word.

- The A shift runs Sunday through Thursday from 6 AM to 4:30 PM.
- The B shift runs Tuesday through Saturday from 6 PM to 4:30 AM.
- The C shift runs Friday and Saturday from 6 AM to 4:30 PM, and Sunday and Monday from 6 PM to 4:30 AM.
The Role
Our Chicago facility has about 300 employees involved in material handling, assembly, and material sequencing. Our main deliverables are fascia, or front and rear bumper assemblies, and overheads, or interior cabin headliners/ceilings.You will supervise teams of 50 or more Operators and you may work in different areas of production. Quick question for you - click here On a typical shift, you will start about 30 minutes early to talk with the Supervisor of the previous shift and review your staffing. You'll walk the line to ensure you have a full staff and, if necessary, call in people to cover if there are gaps.
Throughout the course of the shift, you will monitor performance, resolve issues, and document various events. For example, if your line goes down, you will contact Maintenance and then gather information about the cause and duration of the down period. You'll document what steps you took.
In addition, you will contribute to efforts to implement new processes and standardize new procedures. We moved our existing operations into a new facility recently, and there are still some processes to finalize. Of course, on an ongoing basis, we may implement new or improved processes.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and coordinating all activities of employees assigned to the department.
- Meeting or exceeding productivity and quality standards using all resources and support available.
- Ensuring all department personnel adhere to all safety rules and reporting unsafe conditions as soon as reasonably possible
- Directing the department in a manner that promotes high morale, teamwork, pride, productivity and quality.
- Ensuring that job performance problems and conflicts are resolved fairly in accordance with the Employee Handbook and the assistance of Human Resource Department.
- Supporting/assisting with launch activities as required or requested.
- Coordinating required equipment repair with Maintenance and/or Tooling Departments.
- Communicating with team leads and members of the department by continually updating them on all information affecting the efficient and safe operations within the department.
- Acting as liaison with all supporting departments to resolve problems.
- Accurately and promptly completing all paperwork associated with the position (corrective actions, scrap reports, production reports, downtime, employee evaluations, etc.).
- Coordinating production part rework, repair or tear down as needed.
- Documenting all activities as required.
- Adhering to all company guidelines for Emergency Evacuation to ensure employee safety.
- Handling any additional responsibility deemed necessary by management.
