The Requirements

To be a good fit for the Maintenance Supervisor, Night Shift opportunity, you should have:
  • A 2-year degree in Maintenance, Electronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in maintenance in manufacturing environments, ideally in the automotive industry.

  • Technical understanding of machines and their components, with strong preference given to experience with electrical and/or PLC equipment.
  • Experience with welding as well as pneumatic, and conveyors equipment.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including familiarity with:
    • MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • MS Project and AutoCAD.  
    • Maintenance software packages, ideally Bigfoot (similar to Oracle) to schedule PM, track inventory, etc. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Outstanding organization skills with strong judgment and the ability to work and lead independently.
You will work five shifts each week (6 PM - 6 AM) including Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. There is some flexibility in the shift hours on Monday and Thursday. The Role

Our Chicago facility has about 350 employees involved in material handling, assembly, and material sequencing. Our main deliverables are overhead assembly systems, fascia assembly systems, and component and system sequencing.

Role Details
In this hands-on leadership role reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will supervise 4-6 Maintenance Technicians per shift. The team's high-reaching mission is to minimize downtime for the production lines to maximize productivity. Quick question for you - click here You will take ownership of the night shift including responsibility for preventative and predictive maintenance, responding to issues that arise, and managing special projects. Projects are typically managed on the downshift, Sunday night one week and Saturday day the next. At 5:30 AM and 5:30 PM, you will meet with your counterpart to review the state of the plant and previous shift. 

Additionally, directly and through your team, you will be responsible for:
  • Supporting production in reducing and eliminating equipment/tooling downtime and scrap, utilizing good analytical methodologies.
  • Overseeing preventive/predictive maintenance, spare parts inventory, and PLC upgrades.
  • Supervising nightly activities (planning and scheduling), ensuring a positive team atmosphere that promotes high morale.
  • Developing skilled and disciplined team members, and conducting employee performance reviews as required.
  • Maintaining and monitoring a healthy and safe work environment utilizing MSDSs for the facility and following all company, local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Establishing projects, plans and spare parts to ensure equipment and tooling is maintained to enable mean time to repair (MTTR) of 30 minutes or less. This will include establishing and maintaining disaster recovery plans for current equipment, tooling and projects.
  • Performing hands-on duties as required. You'll maintain and monitor manufacturing plant facilities, inside and outside (loading docks, etc.), assist in implementing projects, and take part in VA/VE type activities.
  • Supporting, maintaining and reporting on maintenance budgets.
  • Documenting all activities as required.
  • Adhering to all company guidelines for Emergency Evacuation to ensure employee safety.
  • Handling any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by management.
